Biggin Hill Meet

We are gathering this year at Waylands Scout Campsite at Biggin Hill south of London. A big flat field, beautiful open woodland, lots to explore. Several big sites for camp fires, plenty of scope for building shelters, plenty of barbecue barrels and even a wood fired oven. There will be pioneering poles and ropes available and a big mess tent for getting together if it rains.

There will be a mix of whatever cooking you want to do for yourself and some group cooking on a more industrial scale – at least fresh bread and pizza, mountains of soup, a big roast if we have enough people.

My seven-and-a-half-month old son had his first camping experience on Wild Routes' Wild Weekend 2015. He had a fantastic time trying wood fire baked bread, playing under the trees and exploring the local wood and heathland in his sling while we gathered berries for 'wild painting'.
